Mario Rodrigues

Researcher/ESTGA

Degree in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (2000), Master in Electronics and Telecommunications at the University of Aveiro (2004) and PhD in Computer Engineering at the same University (2013).
He has been a member of ESTGA since 2003, where he has lectured and been responsible for curricular units in the area of ​​Informatics, more particularly in subjects related to the programming of computers or other electronic devices. He is part of the coordination team of the Connected Communities Technology Platform of the University of Aveiro (http://www.ua.pt/ptconnectedcommunities/) and is an integrated member of the Institute of Electronic Engineering and Informatics of Aveiro (IEETA) (http: // wiki.ieeta.pt).

    Rita Santos

    She is an Assistant Professor at the Águeda School of Technology and Management, University of Aveiro. She obtained her MSc and bachelor in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering (University of Aveiro) and holds a PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms (Universities of Aveiro and Porto).
    Her actual main fields of interest are the conceptualization and development of innovative digital applications that aim at helping citizens improve their well-being and quality of life, especially whose target audience is the elderly, following User-Centered Design and Participatory Design methodologies.
    In the area of ageing, she coordinates the VoluntAge project, funded by AlticeLabs, which aims to develop a technologically mediated environment to support volunteer activities targeting the elderly and she is also member of the SmartWalk – SmartCities for Active Seniors project that proposes the creation of a physical activity monitoring system for older adults using the network infrastructure of smart cities.

      Ciro Martins

      Ciro Martins holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Aveiro (UA), a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and a degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of Beira Interior (UBI).
      He began his activity as a researcher at INESC in Lisbon, and later was a researcher at Spoken Language Systems Lab (L2F/INESC-ID-Lisbon) until 2010. He was assistant at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Instituto Superior de Entre Douro e Vouga.
      He is currently teaching in Águeda School of Technology and Management – University of Aveiro, being Director of the Degree in Information and Technologies since 2011 and coordinator of the scientific area of informatics since 2017.
      He is a collaborator of Institute of Electronic and Telematic Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA) since 2010, focusing his research interests in the areas of AI, Automatic Speech and Language Processing, HCI and Educational Technology.

          Fernando José Mateus da Silva

          He is Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the School of Technology and Management, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria (Portugal) and is currently serving as deputy principal at the same school.
          He is a researcher, member of the Coordinating Committee and member of the Scientific Committee of the Center for Research in Informatics and Communications – CIIC, at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. He received his PhD in Information Technology from the University of Extremadura (Spain) in 2011 and his Bachelor in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal).
          Outside the educational system, he worked as a software developer at Volkswagen Autoeuropa (Portugal). He has published more than 20 articles in annals of conferences and publications in the area of Informatics.
          Areas of interest include Evolutionary Algorithms, Optimization, Data Mining, Internet of Things, Ambient Assisted Living and Bioinformatics.

                      Anabela Silva

                      Graduated in Physiotherapy from the School of Health Technology of Coimbra, Master in Biosciences from the Development Department of the University of Coimbra and PhD from the Metropolitan University of Leeds, UK. She is currently a professor at the Aveiro Higher School of Health and an integrated member of CINTESIS.UA.
                      She has a degree in Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, a Licentiate degree in Physiotherapy and a post-graduate degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
                      His research interests focus on the person with an emphasis, in particular, on the optimization of evaluation strategies and person-centered and mediated (or not) technology-driven intervention strategies.

                          Ana Rita Assunção Teixeira

                          PhD, MSc in Eletronic Engineering at the University of Aveiro and BSc in Maths at the University of Porto. She is a Professor at the Department of Informatics in Higher Education School of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, where she has taught Interactice Tecnologies, Web Programing, Networks and Multimedia Systems, User Interaction, Quantitative methods, User Experience and Design Usable Systems.
                          She is a Master Coordinator of Human Computer Interaction Master. She has over 50 scientific articles in prestigious international journals and conferences.
                          She is a member of the “Signal Processing” research group at the Electronic Engeneering Institute of the University of Aveiro and of the “Applied Research Institute” of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra.
                          Her research work focuses mostly in the area of Assistive Technologies and Human Computer Interaction, Signal Processing Methods and Aplications. Her work has been referenced in many other author publications.

                              Luis Gonçalves

                              Luís Jorge Gonçalves has a degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Aveiro (UA) and a post-graduation and master in Integrated Map and Geoinformation Production from ITC, Netherlands. Has also a specialization in Geographical Engineering (UA) and in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) by the Order of Engineers, where he is member of the board of the GIS specialization committee.
                              Today he is the teacher responsible for several curricular units related to geoinformation – namely Database Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Project in GIS Applications, Spatial Databases and WebGIS Applications.
                              Since the creation of ESTGA, Luís Gonçalves has also been a consultant to a large company of the Group Águas de Portugal for almost a decade and collaborates in courses linked to GIS for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in other Departments of the UA.

                                  António Manuel de Jesus Pereira

                                  Is Coordinator Professor at Department of Computer Science Engineering at Superior School of Technology and Management of Leiria Polytechnic Institute.
                                  He is the founder of Computer Science and Communications Research Center at Leiria Polytechnic Institute, Portugal.
                                  He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science Engineering from University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2006 and his M.S degree in Electronically and Telecommunications Engineering, from University f Aveiro, Portugal, in 1995.
                                  He has published more 100 conference papers, and refereed journals in the areas of Computer Science and Communications. He received 2 best papers awards at international conferences. Also he is the author of 3 national patents.
                                  His major research interests include Body Area Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, Quality of Service, TeleHealth, Ambient Assisted Living, Next Generation Networks and Services.

                                      José Carlos Bregieiro Ribeiro

                                      He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where he integrates the Scientific and Pedagogical Commissions of the study cycles of degree in Informatics for Health and in Computer Engineering.
                                      He is also a researcher at the Center for Research in Informatics and Communications at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and at the Center for Research in Computer Science and Systems at the University of Coimbra.
                                      The PhD degree was awarded to him by the University of Extremadura, Spain; and the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Coimbra.
                                      His main research topics are Genetic Programming, Search-Based Software Engineering, Context Sensitive Systems and Cognitive Computing.
